TOUR DETAILS

DAY 1

Your journey starts in a westerly direction, travel via Khomashochland, down the Gamsberg Pass into the Namib, to the famous Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Explore the impressive conglomerate gorges of the Sesriem Canyon , with its rock pools fed by the Tsauchab, the same river that feeds Sossusvlei during the rainy season. A fitting site for your first Namibian sunset.

DAY 2

An early start is imperative, as this is not only the coolest part of the day but the best for photography. Our journey takes us right into the famous Sossusvlei. A local expert will tell you about the fauna and flora that inhabits this region. Climbing one of the dunes affords the energetic traveller with an unforgettable experience of endless vistas across a sea of apricot-coloured sand.

After breakfast you will travel west across the many changing faces of the Namib to the Atlantic coast and the port of Walvis Bay . The lagoon offers sight of thousands of flamingos and shore birds all feeding in the nearby water. After lunch (optional), you will continue north along the coast to the resort town of Swakopmund , your stop for the night. Dinner is on your own account allowing you the option of trying out one of the many excellent seafood restaurants

DAY 5

Drive to the famous Etosha National Park . Etosha, the “Place of the great white spaces”, was once a vast shallow lake created, Heiqum Bushman legend tells us, by the tears of a grieving mother. When the Kunene river retreated to its present northern course, the shallow lake evaporated, leaving behind 5 000 square kilometers of salty desert, a mirror expanse of shimmering images, dust devils and the occasional line of lonely zebras trekking endlessly to the horizon.
